Forest School Site - build, maintain
I met the Head of Nursery on the Forest School L3 course ran by Adventure Training North East. Her brief was to open up an area on a flat featureless field where she could run regular forest school sessions.
Firstly, I installed a large willow archway to define the entrance and commissioned a local craftsman to build the chestnut gate.
Free trees were planted by the school children, supplied by the woodlandtrust.org.uk, Mature trees were donated which gave essential structure.
Sustainable local materials were sourced from the local council. Using bark chipping's and log edging we linked areas up, used large logs for seating and a large log pile for 'mini beasts' to inhabit. Later, a shipping container was donated and is used as an eco room for further study and to warm up.
